Pre-Writing Artifact: When I Felt Heard​
At the closing of my senior year I was doing my "Senior Thesis Dissertation" which is the final project a student must complete before graduating my high school. It consists of reading 3 books, one curriculum book, one philosophy book, and one novel, then working all year on a thesis statement of your choosing and writing a 15 page paper defending that thesis. You are assigned a faculty member to be your advisor and you meet with them weekly to talk about your ideas, the books, and your paper. I was assigned our headmaster, lucky me... At the end of the year you sat in front of a panel of 4 faculty members with an audience watching(family and friends) as they try to prove your thesis wrong. It was a really great experience and it helped me grow as a person.

Revision Artifact: Written Story of When I Felt Heard
At the closing of my senior year I had my “Senior Thesis” which was the final project a student must complete before graduating from my high school: Veritas. It was the dawning thing that hung over the head of every student from freshman year to senior year. It consisted of reading 3 books, one curriculum book, one philosophy book, and one novel, developing a thesis statement and writing a 15 page paper proving that thesis, finished with facing a panel of 4 faculty members, as well as an audience of friends and family, and trying to defend your thesis while they attempt to prove it wrong. At the very beginning we were assigned a faculty member to be our advisor. They had to approve our books, meet with us weekly to help develop our thesis, and be on the panel during our final presentation. I was assigned our headmaster, Mrs. Washburn, lucky me! My thesis was “Happiness Is a Choice” and I ended up doing very well on it. I loved being able to discuss and present a personal truth, I felt like people, even my family, learned a lot about me that day.
