Final Campaign

A group of senior citizens who have attended college that have weekly meetings with freshman students. Older people who have lived full lives after college could offer some insight that would calm students down and give them hope for the future. This group would have weekly meetings and any student would be invited to come. This could present some perspective to students who are struggling with the transition into college.

Why?

My own experience, as well as the research I have done has shown that freshman year is the hardest year on youths. They not only are going through the biggest transition of their life and have new surroundings, they are also starting to think of what they want to do in life. This can be a very overwhelming thing, choosing a major often seems like you are choosing your life path. In my own life I experienced a fairly rough freshman year, and I considered myself a strong kid, then again there were a lot of outside circumstances that effected me during my first semester. But this is very common amongst students and I don't think that only the people who suffer form severe issues should talk about them and have help. If I've learned one thing from my freshman year of college it's that every first year student is going through something. If there are experienced people who have lived full lives that are telling their story, it can really impact this young person who isn't thinking that things will get better.
